GIBRALTAR PARK WINERY ACCOMMODATION / 2005 -

This small short stay accommodation building was sited along the contour of an undulating hillside with views into a gully below overlooking one of the wineries vineyard blocks. The linear plan gives each unit full exposure to the views across the valley and creates a linear circulation route to a common space that contains a cafe and restaurant with outdoor dining balconies.

Large roof overhangs on the single pitch roofs adopt a Regional Queensland architectural language that we commonly investigate and re-interpret to root new buildings to their pre-existing context. This regional language has developed  in no small part through the practicality of attaining comfort in a sub-tropical climate, a concern that remains as consequential now as it has ever been.
